Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Looking for good experience and a hard worker.
• Trouble with workers in the past, had to let a couple contractors go recently. Job description explains all the technical stuff.
o Issues in the past – lack of commitment, more of a character thing. Not picking up on the ways that they work quick enough. Another contractor did a no call, no show. Common sense type stuff. Not too many short falls on the technical side, just overall, not great workers.
• Soft Skills/Tech Skills – effective communicator, good troubleshooting skills (general network troubleshooting GCIP stack, knowing routing and switching, wireless (aruba wireless experience would be a big plus), good team player. Go with the flow of things, do what you are told, feel free to propose new ideas, etc. Arrogant personalities do not work
• 75% offsite – That’s how it will stay. The way they operate, go in the office when they need to. Go into the office to ship out equipment or something you can’t do remotely, etc. Totally in support of remote work as long as folks complete their work.
• Travel: Do a lot of tech refresh work, in charge of remote sites – will require travel but it will depend on the schedule. Good rule of thumb, once a month that they will have to travel out of town. Could even be less than that. Travel would be out of state but there are sites that are in central Ohio. Sometimes have to do international travel – Thailand, China, but that is very uncommon. If someone doesn’t want to travel international – that is OK but better if someone is willing.
• Prefer Local Candidates or within a doable drive so they can travel in when needed.
• H1B is fine even though it is CTH
• Interview Process – may just do 1 interview. He needs to talk to his boss to see. Might narrow down candidates after initial first interview and do a final/2nd interview
• Project Funding so there is room for OT
