Description
Amazon Web Services Direct Connect is a unique software defined network that provides customers a dedicated network connection from their on-premise network to the cloud. Building and scaling the largest customer facing network in the world comes with unique challenges and we are always looking for solid engineers to assist us in this endeavor. We are expanding at a tremendous rate; It is our responsibility to maintain our customers service quality, availability and reliability while developing innovative ways to automate the scaling of our network.
AWS Direct Connect is currently available in more than 100 locations, which span nearly 70 cities in 30 different countries. As a Network Development Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure you will:
Be responsible for deploying Direct Connect network infrastructure across AWS PoPs and datacenters.
Deploy critical Tier 0 services relied upon by customer-facing systems as well many internal services, including Amazon Retail
Deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our customers. - Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production
Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards - Create and implement changes on the network
Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume - Draft scripts for automating configuration and other tasks.
This position will be Hybrid, candidate will be expected to attend their assigned office a minimum of three days per week.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree
Industry experience working in large scale Service Provider, Enterprise and/or Data Center environments.
TCP/IP networking experience, including application and troubleshooting of TCP, IP protocols, and major internet routing protocols.
Experience with major router platforms, including Cisco: ASR, NCS, Nexus and Juniper, MX/EX platforms with all compatible supervisory and line cards for these platforms.
Experience with the following protocols & technologies: DWDM, 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), MPLS, RSVP-TE, BGP, OSPF, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, Netflow, DNS, HTTP and SSL.
Unix/Linux command line experience
Network automation and scripting experience using Python, Perl, or similar solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
A background in large-scale network design or deployment is highly desired.
Software development/programming/scripting skills are a huge plus.
Excellent analytical skills.
