Bentley Systems Senior Service Designer in Dublin 2, Ireland

The User Experience (UX) team at Bentley Systems is looking for a Senior Service Designer, located in Ireland or UK.

At Bentley Systems, we deliver solutions for complex engineering projects. Our users are the ones designing, building, and operating the world’s infrastructure. It requires us to know their needs very well, and this is where UX Design plays a critical role.

As a Senior Service designer in the Open Applications team, you will play a lead role in shaping Bentley’s strategic initiatives through the customer’s lens. Responsible for choreographing processes, technologies, and interactions, driving the delivery of holistic human-centered services. We are building a versatile team of designers with complementary strengths in system thinking, simplifying complexity, and facilitating collaborative creativity. Your work will support the productivity of infrastructure Project Managers, Engineers, and Architects all over the world. You will contribute to creating delightful experiences across all interactions our users have with Bentley.

In your role you will:

  • Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements and manage the scope in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Conduct evaluative research and analysis, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

  • Be accountable for planning and leading workshops with teams and stakeholders.

  • Work strategically on end-to-end services to deliver improved innovations and improvements.

  • Build frameworks such as: Experience mapping, cross-functional collaboration activities, vision storyboards, service blueprints, etc.

  • Definition of all unmet needs and defining how we can meet those needs.

  • Demonstrate artistry and excellence in the communication of ideas across organizational boundaries

  • Distill complex ideas so that others can quickly comprehend them.

  • Build interactive prototypes, service blueprints, and/or storyboards to test ideas and communicate them internally and externally.

  • Iterate quickly and explore multiple solutions for a given problem.

  • Ensure that designs are consistent with our design system and contribute the designs to the design system.

  • Mentor junior UX colleagues.

We expect you to have:

  • A professional portfolio displaying skills.

  • Experience of advocating for people and user needs in all aspects of design work; experience of user-centered design and service design

  • Background in designing services for multiple user groups with a range of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrable track record of making effective decisions using user research and data, to improve a service, reduce complexity and generate new ideas.

  • Experience of explaining design ideas and concepts in a way that other people understand, including visualizing, sketching, and prototyping.

  • Ability to reflect critically and ask difficult questions; thinking holistically about the big picture while working out details and being able to appreciate and articulate the broader implications of a thing.

  • Great command of Figma.

  • At least basic familiarity with infrastructure design and engineering workflows.

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.

Additional points for:

  • Experience designing CAD-based applications and complex 3D user interfaces.

  • Familiarity with technical constraints as they apply to designing for different platforms.

  • Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, User Experience, or related field.

  • Experience with supporting and contributing to design systems.
