About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Commis 1 and a Commis 2 to join the team of pastry in Jumeirah Al Qasr. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Collaborate with the Chef de Partie to organize section responsibilities for mise-en-place production and service.

  • Follow orders from the Chef de Partie and execute them accurately.

  • Ensure completion of daily checklists for mise-en-place and food storage.

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing daily requisitions for wine, dry store items, and kitchen transfers, seeking approval from the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef to maintain high stock rotation.

  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and provide motivation.

  • Adhere to portion size, quantity, and quality standards set by the Chef de Partie and outlined in the recipe index.

  • Participate in daily meetings with the Chef de Cuisine and attend other meetings as required by the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef.

  • Stay updated on changes in banquet schedules or other organizational information through the main information board.

  • Report equipment failures to the Chef de Cuisine and ensure necessary repairs are carried out.

  • Communicate all relevant information about functions to the next shift.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Successfully finished a one-year kitchen apprentice or chef training program.

  • Accumulated a minimum of one year of experience as a commis 1 and commis 2 in either a luxury hotel or a standalone restaurant.

  • Possess fluency and working proficiency in English.
