Position Description

Primary purpose: • Responsible for safe troubleshooting, repair and operation of mechanical equipment used in crude oil pipeline, pump stations and storage facilities as well as ROW defending of company assigned assets. • Position will be based out of Guernsey, WY, but the Douglas and Wheatland areas will be considered as well. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Demonstrate and Demand a safety culture of Zero accidents. Ensure compliance with company manual and policies • Take all possible measures to protect environment, public, employees and assets. • Inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and repair and various mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic pieces of equipment and keep all appropriate documentation associated with these duties up to date • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed • Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties • Maintain sufficient inventory of mechanical supplies and repair parts to meet most emergency situations • Work with project managers, engineering and contractors on all new construction projects • Communicate with supervisor on major maintenance and repair issues and be receptive to change and the exchange of ideas • Coordinate with other pipelines regarding product movement • Understand emergency procedures, review SPCC and FRP annually, and be prepared for emergency response within the assigned area • Use good critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems • Create and distribute reports on product movement • Develop strategies to meet noms when equipment failure or other constraints are experienced • Understand and be proficient in operations of crude oil pipeline and pump stations • Maintain customer relationships and provide excellent customer service by maintaining communication and aggressively solving problems that arise. Notify supervisor of any issues • During “on call” status, individual needs to have cell phone with them at all times. Timely responses are essential • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Minimum requirements: Education: • High School degree of equivalent Experience / specific knowledge: • General knowledge and experience reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and diagrams • General knowledge of company policies and practices, and regulatory and tariff requirements • General knowledge of Crude Oil Terminal/Storage facilities, pipeline systems and product movement Certifications, licenses, registrations: • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties Competencies, skills, and abilities: • Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours including after dark hours, which require carrying a communication device • Travel may be required • Overtime may be required and is anticipated • Job planning and prioritizing • Intermediate computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software) • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals) • Good verbal and written communication skills • Customer focus • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed • Job Title and pay will be dependent on experience Physical demands: • Must be able to frequently climb to and work from elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, stairwells, walkways, etc. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist (occasional) Working conditions: • May be subject to work in hazardous conditions including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather conditions, and extreme temperatures • Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment • May work in low-lit areas • Be available for shift work when applicable • Wears safety equipment as required Supervisory responsibility: • No supervisory responsibility Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position: • Two year Associate Degree in job related technical training or equivalent work experience • 3 years’ experience in operating and maintaining crude oil pipeline systems, pumps, or similar equipment • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high pressure systems • Knowledge and experience with high pressure gas/liquid, processing equipment, pumps, meters, valve actuators • Line locating experience a plus Other responsibilities: • When operations approach limits, Operators are responsible for taking appropriate corrective action and maintaining constant communication with the company’s schedulers, management and control room to make necessary adjustments to product movements in an efficient manner • Operators may also perform repair and maintenance work, pigging of the pipelines, maintenance of right away and grounds around pipeline and other facilities and line locates as needed
