Job Description

ESG Operations, an Inframark Company, is hiring an Operations Supervisor in Douglas, GA. You would be responsible for supervising the continuous operation of the wastewater treatment system, water wells, water plants, standpipes, all other components of the water and wastewater treatment systems, and the activities of the staff. This position requires some interaction with the public, customers, clients, and city officials. We are looking for candidates with a valid Georgia Wastewater Operator license and a hands-on work style.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare internal reports, regulatory reports, and client reports as defined by the project manager

  • Intermittently check and verify that the staff is performing duties correctly, including operations, maintenance, safety, lab procedures and QA/QC program

  • Conduct weekly or monthly meetings with department heads pertaining to project performance and goal achievement

  • Help define and then approve the functions and objectives of the facilities and staff.

  • Take effective corrective action in case of emergencies

  • Oversee safety program and assure that it is aggressively followed

  • Conduct interviews with potential employees

  • Perform employee evaluations

  • Administer discipline to employees who violate of company policies and procedures

  • Approve project staff schedules

  • General office and plant administrative responsibilities

  • Assist in budget planning and preparation

Qualifications

It requires a high school diploma or GED and the equivalent of one year of college or specialized vocational training in biology, chemistry, or a closely related field. Five years of experience in water/wastewater treatment systems, operation, distribution, maintenance, or equipment operations. Must have a Class II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License in Georgia or ability to receive it through reciprocity. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.

Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and methods of wastewater and water treatment and analysis. General knowledge of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment. Supervising, mentoring, and coaching employees on water permit specifics and limitations. Knowledge of backflow devices and required locations.

Skill: Supervising and training department heads. Operating various related process control and laboratory equipment. Oral and written communication Evaluating operating parameters and adjusting plant processes

Ability: Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Able to work in constricted places. Perform mathematical computations. Work on federal-recognized emergency duty during non-scheduled work hours. Work overtime; work any day, including state and Federal recognized holidays. Distinguish between different shades of color.

Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. This position requires medium work involving standing or walking all of the time, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force regularly, and considerable dexterity and skill in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.
