Job Description Summary

Coordinates and performs screening and diagnostic mammograms. Instructs and educates patients on self-breast exams.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Performs Screening and Diagnostic Mammography Imaging

  • Accepts accountability for own work and team outcomes when appropriate.

  • Reports promptly any critical or unusual situations.

  • Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.

  • Conducts required Quality Control as determined per supervisor: Processor, Mammogram units, Record and file data.

  • Assists Radiologist or surgeon with biopsies (provides post breast biopsy care of patient; locates films and reviews priors with physician before biopsy)

  • Takes inventory and orders supplies

  • Identifies each patient and reviews each patient’s requisition.

  • Assists with Federal regulations regarding follow up mammograms and documentation as requested by supervisor.

  • Assists Central Scheduling with schedule and questions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience Required

  • ARRT (R ) certification

Minimum Experience Preferred

  • ARRT (M) certification

Minimum Education Required

  • Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology.

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

  • Advanced certification in mammography required within eighteen (18) months of hire date.

Minimum Education Preferred

  • Completion of an accredited x-ray program

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation.

  • Basic typing and computer skills.

  • Experience in operating personal computers in a Windows environment.

  • Customer service oriented.
