Job Description Summary

Assumes responsibility for driving the Southeast Reference Services vehicle to transport specimens and supplies between Southeast Reference Services and external customers while maintaining specimen stability according to the defined guidelines and standards; assumes responsibility for safe performance of the vehicle including maintaining appropriate service logs, trip logs, and preventive maintenance.

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent. Must be at least 25 years old with a valid driver’s license. Valid Alabama Driver’s License. Excellent Driving Record.

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation. Ability to communicate directions to service sites with appropriate staff members and customers.

SKILLS:

Perform duties by driving courier vehicle and assisting customers with pickup and delivery of specimens and supplies. Maintain documentation of courier vehicle upkeep, maintenance logs, and travel logs. Customer service oriented.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to drive most of the workday. Ability to work indoors and outdoors with frequent trips out of the vehicle and the ability to work outside in all types of weather. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach at shoulder height or overhead, and use hands. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
