JOB SUMMARY:

The Yard Maintenance Technician is responsible for a wide variety of yard maintenance work on yard equipment, industrial type heavy machinery, factory vehicles, and the overall facility. The employee must be able to troubleshoot small engines, hydraulic problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate and repair wheel loader, skid loader, lawn mower and other facility vehicles safely.

  • Transport tools, parts, supplies, and equipment safely on and off the facility.

  • Check and review work orders and complete tasks on a priority basis.

  • Inspect and troubleshoot hydraulic and mechanical problems.

  • Replace and/or repair worn-out, broken, and damaged components, equipment, and parts.

  • Complete all the assigned PM’s for the yard equipment on time and safely.

  • Handle machinery parts/hardware.

  • Lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.

  • Report repair statuses to department supervisors.

  • Assist in training new employees.

  • Enter data into equipment computer program as needed.

  • Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.

  • Communicate using handheld radios with other yard personnel.

  • Knowledge in basic grounds upkeep.

  • Assist co-workers with heavy lifting of parts.

  • Sweep and clean shop areas and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

  • Work outside in all weather conditions: snow, rain, heat, and cold to complete tasks.

  • Work required hours and over time as needed and have an excellent attendance record.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks.

  • Willing to be on call for emergency’s/snow removal.

  • Must have valid drives licenses.

  • Must have clean driving record.

  • Ability to climb ladder to a height of at least one story.

  • Ability to work with variety of vendors when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months of applicable position experience

  • Forklift Certified

  • Heavy equipment operating knowledge

  • CDL our willing to maintain with in 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent Associate degree

  • Class B CDL

  • CNG certification.
