Job Posting Summary

This position provides for in-class tutoring and academic support to fellow students. They work closely with the course instructor, assisting with classroom activities. In their interactions, Math Teaching Assistants (TAs) model good student practices such as study and note-taking strategies, help their peers develop time management skills, and foster confidence and self-reliance. They encourage student success through engagement with a variety of academic resources.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrate an ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with students and instructors.

  • Demonstrate mastery of the specific content area or a related subject area in which he or she will assist students in the classroom.

  • Must provide the name of one Mercy University faculty member who will provide a letter of support on their behalf.

  • Must have received grade of A- or better in subjects in which they will assist students in the classroom.

    Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.

    Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.

    Mercy University promotes a community campus environment. As a result, employment is limited to the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Applicants outside of those states or the USA will be required to relocate. Relocation assistance may be provided for eligible moves.
