Job Posting Summary

  • This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating faculty training sessions for the Learning Management System (LMS) and providing technical support for online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Training

  • Provides group and individual LMS training sessions, including basic and more advanced/specialized training.

  • Develops Faculty Training materials including faculty guides, instruction videos, and interactive learning experiences.

  • Facilitates the LMS Orientation for new faculty.

  • Develops faculty confidence in their ability to be successful in teaching online courses.

  • Ensures all faculty using LMS are aware of Mercy University’s Online Learning protocol and procedures.

  • Identifies learning strengths and needs

    Troubleshooting and Faculty Course Development

  • Offers daily Drop-in Clinics to faculty for Level 1 support and troubleshooting.

  • Triage and escalate advanced troubleshooting concerns to the appropriate team member or IT helpdesk.

  • Identifies and reports gaps in policies and procedures to management

    Master Course Development

  • Assists with Master Course development in line with QM Standards.

  • Reviews development planning documents such as alignment grids, grading maps, course outlines, rubrics, etc.

  • Proofreads course content developed by Master Course developers (copyedit/review attachments such as lecture notes, PowerPoints and templates).

  • Populates course content into LMS.

  • Reviews and ensures quality assurance in Master Courses.

    Coordinating/Outreach

  • Communicates with faculty about training needs.

  • Responsible for planning monthly faculty training calendar as well as preparing supplemental materials and maintaining faculty training database.

  • Triage email communication to the appropriate Mercy Online Team Member.

    General

  • Sets productivity goals.

  • Proactively Identifies and initiates actions independently to support the vision, mission and objectives and to resolve or avoid problems. Seeks to learn and continuously develop self. Maintains high credibility to accomplish objectives. Uses resources wisely and effectively.

  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned.

  • Remains in compliance with all policies and procedures and regulations pertinent to the department and the University.

  • Maintains confidentiality in the management of information.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge with emerging technologies for online learning

  • Experience working with LMS systems and related applications.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Effectively communicates and/or implements innovative ideas to proactively solve problems.

  • Problem solving skills with the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to address and resolve issues with a clear set of priorities.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while supporting the goals of the team and ensuring success.

  • Experience coordinating, facilitating and leading group training of all sizes, using a variety of learning modalities

    Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college required, master’s degree preferred.

    Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility to provide occasional support outside of regular work schedule.

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies

Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:

Deferred Compensation Plan

All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.

Defined Contribution Plan

Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.

If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
