Job Posting Summary

The Mercy University School of Nursing invites applications for this exciting position.

The Director is primarily responsible for advancing faculty development and positioning the school to be a Center of Excellence. The individual selected for this role will advance the scholarship of teaching and learning and enhance the pedagogical expertise of nurse educators in the art and science of nursing education. The Director will provide oversight of program effectiveness and strategies that support student outcomes. As part of the leadership team, this role requires knowledge and expertise in co-creating an infrastructure that supports continuous quality improvement.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes professional development needs of faculty

  • Analyzes student outcomes to determine academic support opportunities

  • Provides guidance in teaching-learning practices that support student outcomes

  • Collaborates with undergraduate and graduate faculty in the review, analysis, and summary of student outcomes (to include norm referenced exams, licensing, and certification rates, DFWIs)

  • Develops a comprehensive plan that blends teaching and learning with student success

  • Uses data to inform and contribute to curriculum recommendations

  • Recommends new programs, policies, and/or procedures that support faculty and academic excellence

  • Establishes a year-round program of faculty development programs

  • Provides faculty guidance in the development and revision of curricula

  • Adopts best practices for faculty development and student success

  • Strengthens the use of technology to advance teaching and learning

  • Actively seeks educational grants to promote data driven practices

  • Contributes to a culture of collaboration

  • Collaborates with the Associate Deans to implement strategies that strengthen academic outcomes

  • Provides innovative continuing education programs that support intellectual inquiry and optimize the teacher-learner experience

  • Supports faculty translation of evidence-based pedagogical research into practice

  • Maintains contact with graduates to support licensing exam and certification pass rates

  • Evaluates and responds to the changes in teacher and learner preparedness

  • Reviews and updates the onboarding process for new faculty

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of academic success initiatives

  • Provides timely communication to the Dean’s office on performance metrics and data-based solutions

  • Contributes to scholarly activities that advance teaching and learning in nursing education

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Evidence of scholarly achievement to advance teaching and learning (publications, presentations, and/or research)

  • A demonstrated knowledge of, commitment to, and outcomes for diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Proven history of advancing academic excellence (providing professional development)

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting student success

  • Demonstrated grant writing skills and/or securing funding for educational research

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in oral and written format

  • A minimum of (7) years' experience teaching in a nursing program

Education Requirements:

  • A master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university (PhD, EdD, or DNP preferred)

    Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per college policies

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:

Deferred Compensation Plan

All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.

Defined Contribution Plan

Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.

If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
