Job Posting Summary

The School of Business at Mercy University invites applicants for adjunct faculty positions to teach undergraduate Accounting (tax focus) to begin September 2023. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a commitment to student-centered teaching and support the academic success of students from diverse backgrounds.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in both individual and corporate tax and be able to teach other accounting courses as may be necessary.

  • In-person and evening teaching required. Ability to teach in the daytime also desirable.

  • Courses may be offered at the Dobbs Ferry, Manhattan, or Bronx campuses, or online (primarily in synchronous format). Be available to teach in the fall and spring semesters.

  • Successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to teach up to two sections of any given course, with a maximum of three course assignments per semester.

  • Assist with program curricular and professional activities and to attend select programmatic or professional development meetings.

    Adjunct faculty are not eligible for relocation assistance.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience successfully teaching accounting courses at the university-level.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.

  • A minimum of five years practical experience required (experience in tax practice desired). 2+ years university teaching experience also desired.

  • Ability to teach taxation at the undergraduate and/or graduate level required.

  • Commitment to teaching with inclusive excellence.

    Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from an accredited institution required. At least one of these degrees must be in an appropriate academic discipline related to accounting or business.

    Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.

Compensation is based on a semester and calculated on a semi-monthly pay cycle.

Mercy University promotes a community campus environment. As a result, employment is limited to the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Applicants outside of those states or the USA will be required to relocate. Relocation assistance may be provided for eligible moves.
