As the Global Manager – Meetings & Events CoE – Venue Sourcing , you will play a critical role on the Meetings & Events CoE strategy and operating model transformation initiatives within Meetings & Events. You will lead the Venue Sourcing Operations team in the CoE. The teams work as a connected unit with team members currently based in Mexico, Poland, Spain, and India. You will provide leadership of direct reports who are Team Leaders based in Mexico, Poland, and India.

Our Venue Sourcing Team in the CoE supports both the internal and external customers globally and work within GBT’s framework, in alignment with the laid down standard operating processes, ecosystem, and technology strategies. Our team members have elevated level of expertise at taking a consultative approach in the conversations with the customers [internal and external] and translating their needs into successful meetings or events.

We are looking for a leader who can establish more efficient practices, align functions and stakeholders, and support adoption to help scale up this innovative service-support model at an accelerated pace. You will be a thought and execution partner for our team, think strategically and help drive best practices across our global markets. You will create and encourage a positive and open work environment to improve quality of work life for the team members, celebrate collaboration initiatives among the cross functional teams and support learning and growth opportunities across all levels.

You should stay focused on aligning the highest-level company priorities with day-to-day operations and help evolve early-stage ideas into future-growth initiatives.

Minimum qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 15+ years of experience in a Meetings & Events, Business Travel, or related industries.

  • Fair business communication skills in English language. Ability to speak in Spanish will be an advantage.

  • Should be available to support direct reports, and internal or external meetings across the different time zones of the CoE teams as needed from time to time.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8+ years of proven people management experience in a diverse, global, and matrixed organization. Experience of managing remote teams will be advantage.

  • Knowledge of M&E related technologies (like, Cvent) and their relevance and application in support of a global strategic meetings program will be an advantage.

  • Experience leading customer programs and/or consulting projects in an Enterprise space.

  • Experience influencing and collaborating with senior stakeholders in a matrixed organization.

  • Ability to project manage and work with minimal guidance.

  • Excellent strategic, problem solving, analytical, presentation and communication skills.

  • Ability to travel by airplane, boat, rail and/or car.

Responsibilities

People management:

  • Coaches and develops direct reports by providing feedback on performance expectations and assisting with development plans. Conducts one-on-one meetings on a regular basis and ensures continuous improvements of the processes.

  • Creates and encourages a positive and open work environment to improve quality of work life. Drives a strong customer focus mindset within the team.

  • Supports the direct reports with managing routine activities like recruiting, budgeting, planning, project execution, quality improvements, partner relationships, performance evaluations, operational efficiency, and service level management.

  • Provides performance-based rewards and recognition to reinforce behavior as it occurs.

  • Ensures people related paperwork and system updates are current for direct reports and their teams.

  • Reviews, tracks and/or approves vacation time, expense reports, payroll, time, and other employee systems for direct reports.

  • Functions as subject matter expert (SME) to ensure consistency and training for all, using standard methodology approach, experience, and knowledge.

Stakeholder relationships and strategy:

  • Builds a roadmap of the transformation journey for Meetings & Events Venue Sourcing support via the CoE towards building long-term resilience into the business and creating opportunities to drive effectiveness while developing truly integrated service support teams for our customers.

  • Builds relationships, leverages strong mechanisms to stay connected and gathers feedback from various cohorts, both internally and externally.

  • Builds, maintains, and leverages strong relationships with internal Sales, Account Management and Operations teams and key decision makers to influence CoE adoption.

  • Represents the “Voice of the Customers” within the COE leadership to inform and influence decisions on innovative solutions, processes, and partnerships.

  • Resolves problems and removes obstacles through interaction with other functional departments.

  • Documents business-value driven customer success stories and shared practices.

Processes and reporting:

  • Functions as the single point of accountability for process governance, projects delivery and reporting for the team.

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date tracking information of all matrices related to key performance indicators.

  • Governs accurate records, system input, and complete file management as outlined in American Express M&E and client policies and procedures.

  • Strategizes with leaders to analyze, forecast, and manage headcounts and operational measures to track results and ensure operational profitability.

  • Works on special projects as assigned by the CoE Director.

  • Keeps abreast of industry standards and trends related to responsibilities.

  • Supports other duties as assigned.
