*JOB SUMMARY: *As a member of the YouthBuild program, the Social Worker will provide support, advice, and educational wellness programming to young adults ages 16-24 to help them enhance their overall well-being. This includes offering resources for mental health, physical fitness, and emotional resilience, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices and personal development. By equipping young adults with the necessary tools and knowledge, we can empower them to navigate challenges effectively and thrive in their personal and professional lives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments evaluations to determine individual's mental, emotional and behavioral health needs. 
  2. Provide counseling, general assistance, and clinical counseling to YouthBuilders.
  3. Coordinate l workshops, groups, outreach, presentations, and other activities to help YouthBuilder manage day-to-day lifestyle.
  4. Refer participants to resources and other agencies as necessary.
  5. Offer one-on-one guidance and support.
  6. Assist with students to provide final assessments, psychiatric, social, and physical needs.
  7. Monitor, evaluate and record client progress regarding treatment goals.
  8. Refer clients or family to community resources for treatment to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness following through to ensure service efficacy.
  9. Modify treatment plans according to changes in client status.
  10. Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

     

*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: *None

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. MSW or LCSW degree required; 2 to 3 years of social work case management experience (preferably with opportunity youth)
  2. Capable of working in high pressure situations.
  3. Commitment to the goals and objectives of the program and to the mission of SER Metro-Detroit and SER YouthBuild Learning Academy. 
  4. Critical thinking data analysis and strong organizational skills.
  5. Willingness to support students and families of all religious and cultural backgrounds.
  6. A high degree of initiative and the ability to work without constant supervision are required. Must have experience working in team settings, collaborate effectively with others, function well under pressure, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and always remain professional. 
  7. Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written. Bilingual skills in Spanish or Arabic is preferred. 
  8. Regular punctual attendance, including evenings and weekends, is required. 
  9. Must possess a valid chauffeur driver's license. 
  10. Must be eligible to pass a background check, including fingerprints.
  11. Must be licensed to perform social work in Michigan.
  12. Strong attention to detail and excellent crisis intervention skills.
