THE WELLNESS PLAN MEDICAL CENTERS Medical Assistant Trainer (Experienced Only) in DETROIT, Michigan

::: {testid="job-description-review-id"} The Medical Assistant (MA) Trainer has the desire to teach and support others and the ability to adjust teaching style to the learning needs of new and current team members to facilitate successful training and mentoring. The MA Trainer will teach, support, counsel, coach evaluate and serve as a role model for new medical assistants and registration clerks.

This position will also train and support current clinical team members and perform medical assistant/registration duties at different TWPMC locations when needed.

Additionally, the MA Trainer will:

  • Develop, implement, and update onboarding training manual
  • Assist in the hiring of new medical assistants and placement at appropriate sites
  • Establish cooperative relationships with accredited schools to prepare curriculum for new medical assistants
  • Complete and update competencies and assessments; assist draft clinical annual evaluations and protocols
  • Maintain the orientation process for new Medical Assistants and Registration Clerks
  • Facilitate and help new and current team members meet the essential functions of the job
  • Understand TWPMC practices, policies and procedures and meet personal and practice objectives
  • Serve as a role model and provide leadership and demonstrate professionalism
  • Serve as a resource by guiding new current team members to appropriate resource material and management when appropriate
  • Guide and assist new team members in the integration into TWPMC culture and environment as well as nurture, support and guide new and current team members through training and mentoring
  • Monitor time management and productivity of new and current team members; and provide valuable formative and summative feedback from training and mentoring process to the Practice and Quality Improvement Manager
  • Perform all duties at every TWPMC location as necessary
  • Perform all duties listed in the Medical Assistant and Registration Clerk job description
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required along with CMA or RMA certification
  • 2-years' medical assistant, medical office, mentor or preceptor experience required
  • A minimum of 1-years' experience training other medical assistants (please show detail on your resume)

DESIRABLE:

  • The ability to influence others to perform their job effectively
  • The ability to work as a team member and collaborate with co-workers and to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current training and a high familiarity with current office safety and infection control standards
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and practice managements systems
  • Proficient knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • The ability to speak Spanish is also desirable
