Detroit Diesel Corporation Manufacturing Industrial Optimization Engineer III in Detroit, Michigan

Provide planning, controlling, and shop floor implementation that support the Transaxle product lines at Detroit. Serve as the lead contact person for both local / global benchmark process activities. Ensure alignment of best practice solutions within the Global Powertrain Organization. Serve as an expert in OSHA ergonomic standards by coordinating activities to maintain the ergonomic burden scorecard and initiate / support measures along with the shop floor team in order to identify top issues and develop solutions to eliminate ergonomic concerns. Design control systems and plan production restrictions to ensure the product meets quality standards. Request, lead, and/or support TOS+ workshops for continuous improvements initiatives in order to improve quality, efficiency, and/or cost. Manage and lead weekly downtime meetings and TIP Review/CI meetings with cross functional teams. Utilize structured problem-solving strategies to resolve production challenges that impact quality, delivery and/or cost. Develop and maintain Yamazumi process element times in alignment with Standard Work Instructions. Calculate efficient shift models or rebalancing due to fluctuations in customer demand. Evaluate and/or estimate potential headcount impacts for operational changes. Maintain and report out on TOS+ metrics including OEE, eHPU, MV and Value Add content. Collaborate on complex design changes with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (TG/M) team and identify the production requirements resulting in process/tooling impacts. Evaluate, align and document any requested production/process changes through the Process Change Coordination (PCC) Tool & system. Serve as the key contact and expert in visual shop floor management tools. Lead the digitalization and technology revolution measures, working collaboratively with cross-functional team to provide tangible solutions. Lead activities in the Operations Training Islands including the preparation and tracking of training material, facilitation of training classes, and identification of training/qualification opportunities based on quality, delivery or CI topics.
