PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS :

  • Light work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time.

VISUAL ACUITY REQUIREMENTS :

  • Requires usage of computer terminal, extensive reading and deciphering of detailed materials and recognition of persons at a distance.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must be able to uphold Mercy College core values

· Ability to adapt to constant change from one task to another, possibly of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure.

· Ability to perform under stress when confronted with an unusual, dangerous, or emergency situation or in situations when working speed and sustained attention is crucial.

  • Ability to influence others’ opinions, attitudes or judgments.

· Must function efficiently under demanding time frames.

· Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with students and co-workers despite the stress of the office work environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office work).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS :

Reports to the Program Chair, Diagnostic Medical Sonography

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Clinical Coordinator

  • Coordinates clinical education and evaluates effectiveness. Provides recommendations for improvement to Program Chair.

  • Ensures effectiveness of clinical sites by evaluating student clinical outcomes and providing recommendations for enhancing the education.

  • Ensures effectiveness of clinical sites by collaborating with and educating clinical instructors (preceptors) and providing recommendations for enhancing the education.

  • Provides teaching, indirect supervision and evaluation of student learning experiences in clinical environments.

  • Ensures clinical education is correlated with didactic education.

  • Provides opportunities and guidance for intellectual and professional development of

  • clinical instructors, including ongoing and/or annual preceptor education.

  • Oversees evaluation of clinical placements by administering and disseminating feedback of the Clinical Site Evaluation and Program Resource Survey processes.

  • Ensures students are in compliance with requirements of the clinical affiliate agreement by working with the Castle Branch administrator.

  • Assists with development and retention of clinical partnerships

  • Participates in and seeks out quality improvement opportunities.

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Instructor

  • Provides teaching, direct supervision and evaluation of student learning experiences in the Mercy College skill lab environment.

  • Ensures lab education is correlated with didactic education.

  • Provides individual advisement and guidance for intellectual and professional development of

  • students in both the clinical and lab environment.

  • Collaborates with other faculty, preceptors, field faculty, and clinical agencies to provide optimum learning opportunities for students.

  • Develops, implements and revises course content in a limited subject area.

  • Participates in and seeks out quality improvement opportunities.

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
