Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Non-Profit Controller for our client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting, with a passion for contributing to a meaningful cause. As the Non-Profit Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the organization, overseeing a team of 2 in the accounting department, and reporting directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Collaborate with program managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.

  • Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with leadership to develop and monitor financial plans.

  • Manage and mentor a team of 4 accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate annual audits and liaise with auditors to address inquiries and provide necessary documentation.

  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on non-profit and/or healthcare accounting.

  • 2+ years of recent leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, regulations, and compliance.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
