Barr Engineering Co. Mechanical Engineer - Senior Level (Hybrid) in Denver, Colorado

Job Description:

Summary: The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing mechanical engineering and related technical expertise in our Denver office. The work will primarily serve heavy industrial clients at oil and gas and/or power generation facilities. Other industries served may include mining, specialty chemicals, and manufacturing. Assignments may include system design related to fluid transfer, HVAC, heat transfer, and plant equipment layout; preparing design/construction drawings and specifications; completing engineering calculations and analyses; sizing and selecting equipment and components; writing technical reports; preparing sketches for system arrangement; developing details of designs; and preparing cost estimates and bid packages. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university

10 years of related work experience

Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year; Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) if not currently a PE

Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office software, and computer simulation modeling

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Willingness to work cooperatively in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative

Demonstrated project organization and management skills

Flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of working on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering or industrial workplace

Background/experience working on industrial construction projects

Client service aptitude and experience

Experience working directly with clients

Proven experience involving pumping/piping systems, gas compression systems, HVAC, dust collection, and/or other relevant mechanical systems

Demonstrated project or task management skills

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Denver, Colorado, office.

Colorado Applicants Only Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus. Our compensation comes in more ways than a traditional base salary, and we believe that when all of those elements are combined, our compensation is a competitive part of the total value proportion of working at Barr.
