The Lead Technician performs a dual role, works as a technician performing repair work as needed to ensure timely completion of service; and as a shift supervisor to ensure qualified technicians perform repairs correctly and efficiently and that the service department maintains a consistently high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist employees with questions and resolution of technical work problems.

  • Provide training on an as need basis, appraise employee performance, reward and discipline them when warranted, and address complaints, and solve problems.

  • Assist the Service Manager in screening employee candidates, conducting interviews, and hiring.

  • Assist technicians in developing their skills and ensure assigned personnel receive appropriate manufacturer’s training.

  • Greet customers, communicate clearly and professionally any changes in repair(s) that would affect cost and/or delivery expectations.

  • Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.

  • Schedule repair work and assigns technician(s) to mechanical segments that match their skill level to ensure quality.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • 9 years’ experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and be insurable.
