We are currently seeking a Technical Writer specializing in systems administrative tasks to take on a unique role at the USGS. You will provide essential administrative support to the team, ensuring efficient agency operations. This exclusive opportunity would allow you to make vital contributions to the USGS IT Team while maintaining a flexible schedule.

As a Technical Writer, you will utilize your technical knowledge of systems administrative processes and procedures to document standard operating procedures (SOPs) with precision to convey critical information and provide status updates to ensure seamless systems operability and optimal system performance. Your efforts will ensure consistency, reduce errors, and allow colleagues to navigate the system with ease. You’ll document SOPs to help translate complex technical processes, provide clarity, and bridge the gap between code and comprehension, while adapting to the dynamic needs of the agency while working minimal hours from the comfort of home.

Requirements:  

  • Must be able to maintain a Public Trust Clearance

  • (US Citizen or have had 3 years of permanent residence)

  • Associate’s Degree in CS or IT OR current equivalent IT Professional Certification OR a minimum of 2 years verified equivalent and relevant system administration experience (tier 1/Tier 2 level support)

  • Demonstrated experience pertaining to software and hardware maintenance

  • Ability to convey concise communication of technical language

    10 Hour work week – Remote or On-Site
