Regional Transportation District GIS Technician - R4442 in Denver, Colorado

The GIS Technician position requires application of geo-spatial mapping and analysis skills to convert field information into digital maps and geographic data and create a centralized digital repository. The position will work closely with the Utility and CAD groups. Salary Range: $53,692 - $89,487. Duties & Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL: Collects, edits, analyzes, and audits geospatial data and ensures accuracy by updating geometry, attributes, and metadata. Creates clear, accurate, and informative maps for various stakeholders. Converts data between software such as CAD to GIS or GIS to CAD using pre-developed tools; creates GIS data from other sources such as As-builts, record drawings, surveys, deeds, and orthoimage. Uses Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and/or mobile applications to perform field data collection and Microsoft Excel and Access to create databases, assists in geodatabase and data dictionary design. Supports enhancements to the organizations web-based map application. Performs quality control on GIS data including researching, interpreting, and validating sources of information to identify and correct errors or omissions in data, and to keep data in compliance with GIS data standards. OTHER: All job-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in GIS, Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Geomatics, Planning, Geography or related field preferred. A minimum of three years of experience using GIS. ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro software proficiency required. AutoCAD Civil 3D software, MicroStation software, Leica survey equipment, Leica Captivate software and Leica Infinity software is a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: A strong understanding of Geodesy, coordinate systems and datums Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing Ability to use sound judgement and work safely Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing with attention to details OR An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.
