Position Overview

As a GIS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) initiatives. You’ll be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of GIS-related projects. From facilitating project teams to setting project objectives and standards, your expertise will be critical in ensuring successful GIS deployment and utilization. This role works in partnership with our Digital Transformation team to drive .  

This position is remote or hybrid depending on your proximity from an office location.

Buford, GA ; Denver, CO ; and Lenexa, KS

Duties & Responsibilities 

Project Planning and Implementation:  

  • Develop comprehensive plans for GIS-related projects, considering project scope, timelines, and milestones.  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of GIS initiatives.  

GIS Strategy and Innovation:  

  • Work directly with the Digital Transformation team to build a forward-looking corporate GIS strategy that incorporates emerging technologies, Client needs, and adapts to our company’s growth.  

  • Explore innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and automate workflows across the construction and engineering teams.  

Technical Expertise:  

  • Provide recommendations on process improvements, change management, and system enhancements related to GIS applications.  

  • Oversee the development and implementation of GIS tools and systems.  

Client Interaction:  

  • Act as the escalation point of contact for clients regarding GIS-related issues, including data setup, modeling, storage, GDB requirements, and design delivery.  

  • Foster strong relationships with clients to ensure successful project outcomes.  

Documentation and Prioritization:  

  • Maintain clear and concise documentation for GIS projects both within the GIS system and in the IT document storage. 

  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, or related field, preferred but not required.  

  • Proven experience in GIS project management. 

  • Strong technical skills in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS). 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. 

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • 5 years of FTTH design experience using GIS applications. 

  • In-depth knowledge of FTTH Design Engineering, various GIS applications, and GIS integration in engineering projects. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 systems with an emphasis on Excel. 

  • Advanced expertise in ESRI software. 

  • Understanding of enterprise GIS systems, their development, capabilities, and pricing. 

  • Utility application proficiency, including critical data storage and integration into GIS systems. 

  • Effective communication, organizational skills, and ability to drive growth-based change. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

  • May experience long hours of standing and moving. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
