Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).

Type: This is a full-time term position that will last for 18-months from the start date.

About the Team

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program Access department focuses on availability, relevance, confidence, and engagement in the AP Program. Within this department, Pre-AP leverages courses in 9th and 10th grade to prepare students to be successful in AP coursework.

In Pre-AP Algebra 1, students develop a deep understanding of linear relationships emphasizing patterns of change, multiple representations of functions and equations, modeling real world scenarios with functions, and methods for finding and representing solutions of equations and inequalities. Taken together, these ideas provide powerful conceptual tools that students can use to make sense of their world through mathematics.

About the Opportunity

As a Director in the Pre-AP Program, you will be responsible for leading the successful revision of Pre-AP Algebra 1 for school year 2025-26, ensuring the quality of the course's core deliverables: the course guide, connections to other Pre-AP and AP courses that follow Pre-AP Algebra 1 in our course progression guide, associated quiz items and learning checkpoints, professional development content, and teacher created resources.

You will serve as the primary point of contact in Pre-AP for committees and communities of subject-matter experts and will be responsible for the curriculum, instruction, formative assessment, and professional learning for Pre-AP Algebra 1, as well as making strategic connections with other Pre-AP and AP courses. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to present, speak, and moderate dialogue with academic and membership audiences to relaunch Pre-AP Algebra 1 after course revisions are complete.

In this role, you will:

Curriculum and Instruction (70%)

  • Create and manage project plan spanning initiation/kick-off of course updates through implementation of revised/updated Pre-AP Algebra 1 course, including revising and, when necessary, developing new curricular and instructional materials and resources to support Pre-AP Algebra 1 teachers worl

  • Collaborate with internal and external content experts, teachers, and school leaders to ensure new and updated course resources are aligned to course content and skills, clearly connected to other Pre-AP and AP courses that follow Pre-AP Algebra 1 in our course progression recommendations, and provide quality materials for teachers and students

  • Recruit, train, and directly supervise Committee members as content development contributors

  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders (Pre-AP Professional Learning Team, Pre-AP Implementation Team, AP Classroom, AP Publications, AP Program Access Team) to execute project plans

Professional Learning (30%)

  • Revise existing Pre-AP Algebra 1 professional learning workshops and all associated materials to reflect course revisions

  • Collaborate with Pre-AP Professional Learning Team to train National Faculty to effectively utilize Pre-AP Algebra 1 professional learning resources

  • Collaborate with Pre-AP Professional Learning Team and AP Access Team to develop, pilot, and establish vertically aligned professional learning experiences for Pre-AP and AP mathematics teachers

  • Conduct professional learning workshops for teachers and leaders

About You

You bring to this role:

  • A Master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a directly related discipline and knowledge of current trends in the discipline (required), although a doctorate in the discipline is strongly preferred

  • Extensive Pre-AP and/or AP classroom teaching experience

  • Experience with curriculum design and development (beyond an i dividual classroom)

  • Experience with instructional design and content development

  • Experience with professional learning design/development and implementation

  • Experience with formative assessment

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to interact with staff at all levels and give and receive feedback
