Burns & McDonnell Carpenter/Surveyor (Morrison, CO) in Denver, Colorado

Description

The Carpenter is responsible for designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and other items of wood, plywood, and wallboard with the use of pneumatic and electric power tools

Duties:

  • Receive work order and prints for the job

  • Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting

  • Read and interpret blueprints/sketches, and complete reports

  • Must be able to tie rebar, build scaffold, finish carpentry work, read tape/ruler, set screeds

  • Operate various hand and power tools

  • Make sketches showing construction details for the job

  • Estimate material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform job

  • Set up and operate tools to cut, form, finish material for the job

  • Erect or dismantle structures, repair or refinish walls or structures

  • Install wood or metal parts

  • Install glass or replace broken glass as required

  • Erect or dismantle roofing or siding

  • Lubricate and maintain carpenter shop equipment

  • May do touch up or incidental painting after structure repairs

  • May Set/build forms for various concrete jobs

  • All other duties assigned by management

Qualifications

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understand and carry out oral instructions

  • Read and carry out simple written instructions

  • Read and carry out complicated written instructions

  • Work at varying heights

  • Read and interpret detail prints and documents

  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals and metrics to calculate surfaces, volumes, weights and measures

  • Operate complex equipment and power tools

  • Operate small equipment and power tools

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work in extreme weather conditions hot, humidity & cold

  • Work in wet, muddy and slippery conditions

  • Work in cramped quarters/confined space

  • Work where noise level is above 89 decibels
