Maryland Rural Development Corporation Early Head Start Teacher - Denton FSC in Denton, Maryland

MRDC Early Head Start teacher provides developmentally appropriate classroom activities and instruction to Head Start students and support Head Start families in compliance with the Early Head Start Performance Standards and MRDC policies and procedures.

  • Maintain respect for confidentiality of information divulged by or on behalf of participants.

  • Model appropriate interaction with young children and parents.

  • Have the ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Be willing to submit to a criminal background investigation.

  • Have current medical evaluation, including a tuberculosis screen within 6 months before the individual begins work in the Center.

  • Possess the ability to relate to people of diverse educational, cultural and economic backgrounds.

  • Be willing and able to do aggressive outreach and recruitment.

  • Have ability to participate in training classes pertaining to child development, children at risk, special needs, etc.

  • Have ability and desire to work with infants and toddlers, and be willing to work with preschoolers.

  • Have ability to implement the activity plans for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

  • Have ability to model/teach to parents how to nurture and interact with their babies.

  • Have ability to frequently sit, kneel, etc. on the floor to interact with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

  • Associate degree in related field or High School Diploma with 90 hour Child Care Certificate or Infant-Toddler CDA acceptable.

  • Minimum of one year supervised classroom experience with children age zero through three years.
