Job Description:

Possesses overall responsibility for the sourcing and category management activities for targeted scope of spend. May also possess overall responsibility for supplier development activities. Develops, coordinates, and implements procurement programs that leverage buying power and scale, working collaboratively with stakeholders and the plants. Focuses on value creation through key value drivers: cost, compliance, complexity and consumption, that support the business units. Works on complex projects of large scope and typically resolves problems where precedent may not exist.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Works cross-functionally with key business unit stakeholders to drive and execute sourcing strategies based on business requirements and market conditions.
  • Develops sourcing strategies for assigned categories using the Greif Seven Step Sourcing Playbook and other available Greif resources
  • Challenges historical paradigms and finds new opportunities to optimize performance. Develops and implements ideas to reduce costs and optimize value. Actively sources assigned categories to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Measures and tracks internal performance for responsible spend, including monthly and quarterly presentations of designated key performance indicators (KPIs). Meets annual cost and productivity targets. Ensures compliance with preferred suppliers.
  • Supports working capital improvements and initiatives (e.g. inventory reduction, payment terms).
  • Supports the reduction in complexity of stock keeping units (SKUs) through the standardization/rationalization of products or services.
  • Assists in evaluating and driving the qualification process of new suppliers.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to ensure they understand requirements, can support lean manufacturing initiatives, and to improve processes/productivity to reduce cost.
  • Proactively communicates with suppliers to prevent and resolve quality issues.
  • Integrates sourcing and category management practices into core business processes.
  • Often leads the work of small project teams, and may formally train junior sourcing colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

     

     

Education and Experience

 

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience.

     

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with sourcing, category management, and/or supply chain operations.
  • Experience executing sourcing events through a formal 7 step sourcing process.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team and to work effectively independently.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management and relevant software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities.
