General Job Description and Expectations:

As an Asphalt Laborer, you will report to the Asphalt Foreman, and you will play a key role in the success of our paving and paving repair operations. The key role of an Asphalt Laborer is to look after the mat. This includes assisting in the setting and smoothing of asphalt for roads and parking lots and any needed repairs. You will be responsible to deliver water to the rollers and plate compactors, preparing site tools and equipment for the next stage in the paving process, sweeping, and raking the pad, assisting in milling process by use of eyes and body signals, directing traffic, and cleaning the area at the end of the day. Asphalt Laborer's are often required to work over weekends, on public holidays, and at night.

Qualifications:

Have a positive and safe work site attitude.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Outstanding diligence providing quality work.

Must have completed High School or GED equivalency.

Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed and work evenings and weekends.

Excellent communication and observation skills.

  • Ability to work in exposed conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind.Previous work experience as an asphalt laborer, repair laborer or flagger in a construction type setting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Offloading the truck and gathering tools for the day.

Transporting rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans to the job site.

Sweeping and preparing any area that will be paved.

Measuring and lining out the area for the day's paving.

Working as a Flagger to direct motorists away from the work zone.
