**GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Deputy Clerk I plans, organizes and implements daily operations of the Commissioner's Office. Maintains and enforces current Office procedures. Serves as communication liaison to other County departments, media, local, state and federal agencies and the public as directed. Exercises judgment in determination of various day-to-day issues that do not involve major deviation from established policies and procedures. Participates in appropriate training and educational opportunities, including attendance at conferences and seminars. Under direct supervision of the Commissioner's Court. Provides a variety of secretarial support and services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Full responsibility for the efficient and effective performance of administrative and technical operations of the Commissioner's Office. 2. Report to the Commissioner's as directed concerning the details of the work of the Commissioner's office. 3. Assist in preparing the budget for the Commissioner's. 4. Sets-up and types correspondence, reports, budget documents, legal and public notices, spreadsheets and other documents for the Commissioner's. 5. Answers telephones and routes calls to appropriate County offices and receives and screens visitors. Researches issues by calling other counties or agencies and collecting and compiling information. 6. Assists in maintaining office filing systems and providing other general clerical support. 7. Performs a variety of accounting related functions such as preparing vouchers for payment and entering to system, calculating and entering payroll and preparing purchase orders. 8. Sends out mass mailing to commissioners, elected officials, local units, news media and community organizations. 9. Gathers information for conferences, meetings, agendas, attends meetings and seminars.**
