The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and compassionate care to patients or residents in a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, creating and implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care:

    • Conduct thorough assessments of patient or resident health status, including physical, mental, and emotional health.
    • Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
    • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to physician orders, facility policies, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as needed, reporting any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Clinical Procedures:

    • Perform clinical procedures such as wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and respiratory treatments in accordance with facility protocols and best practices.
    • Provide patient and family education on medications, treatments, and lifestyle adjustments to promote health and wellness.
    • Assist with diagnostic testing, monitor vital signs, and ensure proper documentation of patient care activities.
  • Medication Administration:

    • Safely administer medications and treatments, following the five rights of medication administration (right patient, right drug, right dose, right route, and right time).
    • Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and promptly report any adverse reactions or errors.
    • Monitor and manage medications for patients with chronic conditions or complex medication regimens.
  • Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of all patient care activities in the electronic health record (EHR) or other required formats.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies related to patient care and documentation.
    • Participate in quality assurance initiatives to maintain and improve the standard of care.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to care.
    • Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and preferences are met.
    • Participate in care conferences and team meetings to discuss patient progress, care plans, and any necessary adjustments.
  • Emergency Response:

    • Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing life-saving interventions such as CPR, airway management, and advanced resuscitation measures as necessary.
    • Assist in stabilizing and transferring patients to higher levels of care when required.
  • Patient Advocacy:

    • Advocate for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring they receive respectful, compassionate, and person-centered care.
    • Provide emotional support to patients and families, helping them navigate difficult health situations and decisions.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associates or Bachelors degree in Nursing).

Licensure: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licens
