Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows prescribed procedures and services, operates and/or maintains facility heating, cooling, plumbing, minor electric and other mechanical equipment with assistance from Mechanic III when needed.
  • Conducts equipment rounds taking temperatures, inspecting equipment, repairing equipment as need and notifies supervisor or director if outside contractor is needed
  • Performs preventative maintenance throughout the building.
  • Completes necessary daily log paperwork when completing tasks.
  • Makes routine repairs to building, mechanical equipment and grounds.
  • Is responsible for cleaning and maintaining of the grounds, watering of plants, landscaping and coordinating with outside vendors for related services as directed by supervisor.
  • Safely operates power tools using personal protective equipment.
  • Completes assigned work orders in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Uses necessary safety precautions for oxygen usage; lock out tag out of equipment, use of fire prevention equipment, and other safety precautions as needed.
  • Ensures safety of residents, staff and visitors by understanding, communicating and complying with safety and security procedures.
  • Attends required in-services and training sessions, including online trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Corporate Compliance

  • Complies with safety policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to laws regarding the protection, use, disclosure, and release of client and CJE business information.
  • Attends required in services; Reports violations of law, regulations, policies, or procedures.
  • Reports client abuse or neglect; Records documentation timely, accurately, and completely.
  • This position has responsibility for HIPAA compliance.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is not likely to occur in this position.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Minimum of 2 years of related maintenance experience including the operation and maintenance of HVAC and boiler machinery and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electric repairs.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Weekend availability required.

Additional Skills:

  • Carpentry skills.
  • Move, disassemble and assemble furniture as assigned.
  • Experience with mechanical breakdowns and repairs faucets, toilets, convectors, and electrical outlets.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools.
  • Perform low voltage electrical repairs.
  • Assemble equipment.
  • Repair door locks, hinges, wheelchairs and other equipment.
  • Ensures that the building is meeting regulation standards. Has knowledge of building life safety code IDPH, OSHA, and local fire department.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, ustomers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
