Safety-Kleen Chemical Engineering Intern in Deer Park, Texas

We are looking for a Chemical Engineering Intern to work with a seasoned mentor to spearhead a reduction in process safety action items across our refinery network. The successful candidate will review hazard assessment reports, evaluate options for remediation, and design process solutions.

Wage: $30hr

Time Frame: The project time frame is slightly flexible and could turn into a CO-OP

Locations: Housing is not provided. Living in a commutable distance from East Chicago, IN or Deer Park, TX is preferred

  • Review process hazard assessments and assist in the prioritization of engineering projects.

  • Provide technical recommendations for the remediation of potential process safety hazards.

  • Update SOPs and administrative control systems to close audit recommendations.

  • Coordinate with internal technical groups to identify and implement best practices

  • Support continuous improvement program through existing processes.

What does it take to work at Clean Harbors?

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Chemical Engineering Degree program preferred.

  • 0-3 years of experience in an engineering discipline

  • Must be able to quickly grasp an understanding of all equipment used at the site, including process instrumentation, piping, valves, pumps, material of construction,

  • Process Safety Management (PSM) and/or Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) experience preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization written and verbally

  • Lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for long periods and exposed to various weather conditions
