POSITION PURPOSE The role of Lead Mechanical Engineer in the power plant encompasses various responsibilities, including but not limited to developing maintenance plans, ensuring procurement of necessary materials, overseeing repair in case of equipment breakdowns, and managing emergency recovery operations. This position involves directing the mechanical engineering teams daily activities to maintain safety and productivity standards. The Lead Mechanical Engineer is tasked with monitoring, and maintaining all mechanical equipment and systems within the power plant facility. Regular inspections of equipment are conducted to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety standards. Additionally, The Lead Mech. Engineer coordinates with relevant departments to summarize operations events and incidents, ensuring timely reporting and implementation of corrective measures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. [Supervision] Oversee the maintenance team and coordinate their activities to ensure efficient operation of the power plant. 2. [Planning and Scheduling] Develop a maintenance schedule and plan for equipment inspection, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks. 3. [Equipment Maintenance] Manage the maintenance of all power plant equipment, including turbines, generators, boilers, pumps, and other mechanical and electrical systems. 4. [Troubleshooting] Diagnose equipment problems and develop solutions to address issues quickly and effectively, minimizing downtime. 5. [Safety Compliance] Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards set by regulatory agencies such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). 6. [Budget Management] Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring expenditures remain within budgetary constraints. 7. [Contract Management] Oversee contracts with third-party maintenance vendors and contractors, ensuring work is completed to specifications and within budget. 8. [Training and Development] Provide training and development opportunities for maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge of equipment and safety procedures. 9. [Documentation and Reporting] Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inspection reports. Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance costs, and compliance metrics. 10. [Emergency Response] Develop and implement emergency response plans for equipment failures or other critical incidents, ensuring the safety of personnel and minimizing damage to equipment and property. 11. [Continuous Improvement] Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in maintenance operations, implementing best practices and technologies to optimize plant performance. 12. [Environmental Compliance] Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to power plant operations, including emissions monitoring, pollution control measures, and reporting requirements. 13. [Team Leadership] Provide leadership and guidance to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability. 14. [Collaboration] Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, engineering, and procurement, to coordinate maintenance activities and achieve overall plant objectives. 15. [Asset Management] Implement asset management strategies to maximize the lifespan and performance of critical plant equipment, including predictive and preventive maintenance techniques. QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and perform basic mathematical computations. Bachelor of mechanical degree in engineering or equivalent required. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in power plant operations. Gas turbi e, HRSG (or high-pressure boiler), steam turbine and BOP experience is required. Understanding of, and proficiency in, mechanical systems, maintenance (planned and corrective), thermal dynamics and administration and supervision. Must demonstrate knowledge of all facts of power plant operations, including maintenance functions to control room, boiler water chemistry, operating procedures, system operating orders and clearance procedures Good communication skills. Ability to In-depth understand PandIDs and mechanical systems. Ability to repair valves, pumps, rotation equipment and other power plant equipment. Ability to plan and direct the work of others.
