Ford Motor Company Solution Architect in Dearborn, Michigan

As a Solution architect you will provide technical support on a range of architecture issues for the Inventory Management and Material Planning portions of Ford’s Supply Chain (ISIT) portfolio.

The right candidate will have strong technical acumen. You will be involved in both detailed technical challenges and enterprise-wide strategic decisions. You will provide advisory and technical consulting for Project Synergy initiatives including Ford Motor Company’s effort to deploy SAP Production Planning (PP) and Inventory Management (IM) functionality to support Supply Chain and Manufacturing production operations that will replace the legacy CMMS system. You will collaborate with your peer Enterprise Architects, PDO teams, Material Planning and Logistics business, and cross functional organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create design proposals from business requirements.

  • Be a key member of a product team – at times participating in their agile ceremonies.

  • Create business and data flow / integration diagrams.

  • Assist in applying strategy and raise issues and risks with integration and interoperability strategy.

  • Review and ensure actual solutions meet the conceptual design and aligns with strategic objective.

  • Provides support to product teams on application performance issues.

  • Support vendor solution evaluation processes

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Understand Ford’s current Material Requirements Planning (MRP) technical and business landscape including associated upstream and downstream systems.

  • Work with various stakeholders to transform current process / legacy systems to Industry best standards / technology / systems.

  • Define and develop end-to-end architecture, including system landscapes, integration points, data models, and technical components Recommend possible technology / process solution to address gaps.

  • Architect complex landscapes encompassing cloud, on-prem, internal and external systems.

  • Provide models and diagrams depicting current and future state Information Technology landscapes.

  • Stay current on technology trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience

  • 8+ years of functional/technical experience including:

  • Use of Cloud technologies – GCP, AWS, or Azure

  • Deployment experience

  • Overall 8+ years IT experience.

  • ​The drive to follow an idea to its logical conclusion and ability to present to management in a clear and concise manner.

  • Demonstrate ability on problem analysis/resolution and productivity improvements.

  • Ability to work closely work with development and business teams.

  • Strong team player.

  • Willingness to express and defend architectural points-of-view.

  • Willingness to continuously learn, innovate, and grow.

  • Willingness to be flexible and seek ideas/inputs from others and collaborate.

  • Ability to operate independently.

NICE to have:

  • SAP Solution Architect or SAP technical experience

  • GCP experience

  • Familiarity with Mainframe systems.

  • Experience in integrating with Siemens or Dassault PLM (or other PLM solutions), KINAXIS tools, Manufacturing Execution Systems, etc.

  • Respect and empathy for team members, business partner and product customer

  • Excellent at problem solving and prevention.

  • Knowledge and practical experience of agile delivery

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver product roadmap milestones

  • Manufacturing and / automotive domain background
