Position Description:

Execution of the Vendor Tooling Procurement Process includes: 1. Early On-Boarding EOB executed on Components identified as requiring early feasibility by tool shops 2. Effective Sourcing Approach insured by validating tool shop capability 3. Capable tool shop identification to insure competitive bidding 4. Transparency ensured by use of Tool Break Down Sheets 5. Finalizing timely negotiations in support of Program Finance Freeze

Skills Required:

  1. Develop tool sourcing strategies in conjunction with the Purchasing matched pair and ensure that those strategies are implemented successfully 2. Coordinate GPDS (Global Product Development System) Part Pedigree Deliverables for all build events 3. Ensure production tool timing and plans meet homeline delivery of tooling for TT requirement 4. Develop analytical tools and strategies to deliver BIC (Best in Class) tool performance and timing (Shop Performance Analytics, Benchmarking, shop development plans, Market Intelligence, Tool Timing Supermatrix, targets, competitive bids, Low-Cost Country sourcing, etc.) 5. Responsible for cost status and target in cooperation with GVT buyers, program, engineering, cost estimating and purchasing. a. Identifies key opportunities to deliver efficiencies in vendor tooling. b. Work closely with Vendor Tooling Purchasing Buyer to deliver efficient tooling 6. Single point of contact and co-ordination regarding Technical issues for suppliers and engineering on global vehicle programs for commodities assigned 7. Resolves emerging issues by engaging engineering, program, STA, purchasing, CE, part suppliers, and tool suppliers to drive GPDS timing deliverables with required pedigree parts. 8. Manage positive relationships with the supply base and/or plant personnel by: a. acting like a partner, being accountable, trusting and being trustworthy, communicating with consistency, being fact based while driving for results, b. thinking value not just price c. Establish tone of ethical business operations to avoid any fraud, bribery or corruption in order to maximize the relationship value

Skills Preferred:

  1. Monitor technical depth and quality of supply base including follow-up on further development and establishment of back-up plan in case of risk 2. Develop a world class supply base for commodities assigned that is capable of delivering the quality, cost and timing objectives of Vehicle Operations and Manufacturing Operations product programs. 3. Identify and develop tool supply base for any emerging technologies working together with PD 4. Ensure long term partner suppliers are capable of meeting quality, cost, timing and technology expectations. 5. Interfaces with Global Vendor Tooling teams in North America, South America and International Markets Group to deliver Global and Regional programs, to exchange best practices, external part benchmarking and tool supplier information and tooling market conditions

Experience Required:

  1. Previous experience with Tooling commodity and corporate business acumen 2. Ability to work with others and foster collaboration, Can-do positive attitude, self-motivated to take responsibility, Drive for results, strong technical competency 3. The following skills and experiences are recommended qualifications for this role: a. High degree of emotional intelligence b. Ability to manage multiple critical assignments with resilience to pivot nimbly when required 4. 5+ Years of experience in tool related field (tool construction, assembly integration, manufacturing feasibility, processing, cost estimating) a. Experience in cross-functional roles would be advantageous, with strong grasp of GPDS b. Impeccable communication skills required c. Strong negotiation skills

Experience Preferred:

Tool making (construction/design) experience either at tool shop level or Tier 1 Experience in costing/estimating tools either at tool shop level or Tier 1 Launch or production experience on tools Could be a tool maker – who moved into design or Program management or Manufacturing engineer at an manufacturing site Basically an individual who knows tools construction – best practices + how to estimates cost and timing builds of tools

Education Required:

College bachelor's degree preferred, HS Diploma or GED required.
