Ford Motor Company ADAS Core Hardware Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position...

You will lead design work for Core ADAS Sensing components and automotive electronic control modules. Provide cost efficient and quality parts on time, ownership and governance of component specific robustness quality documentations.

What you'll do…

As a member of our Core ADAS team, you will contribute and lead projects related to:

  • Lead Design and Release work for Core ADAS Sensing components and automotive electronic control modules. Provide cost efficient and quality parts on time, ownership and governance of component specific robustness quality documentations.

  • Develop and release Core ADAS Sensing components/ modules technical documentation: ESOW, Engineering Specifications, System Design Specification requirements, EMC test Plan, DFMEA, DVP&R, SCCAF, etc…

  • Lead and Perform Failure Mode Avoidance and Functional Safety analyses to examine potential failure modes and design suitable prevention strategies

  • Lead the Software integration of multiple features and functions, both Ford and supplier owned

  • Conduct Technical Design Reviews interfacing with Ford core activities and supplier engineering (software, hardware, mechanical, etc..).

  • Provide support to Electrical Distribution System team, submit related E/E information: Design Transmittal, specification, electrical diagram. Participate in compatibility reviews. Support breadboard activities.

  • Lead development and execution of Ford Corporate requirements for Core ADAS components. Reconcile Ford Corporate requirements for Core ADAS sensing sensors and modules; Release to Ford FEDE system Core ADAS components and subsystems applicable requirements.

  • Support Ford Supplier Technical Assistance team activities to assess supplier quality and manufacturing capabilities.

  • Support Vehicle Operation activities to determine appropriated assembly and testing processes.

  • Support the packing and integration of Core ADAS Sensing component/ modules on various programs.

  • Interface with other engineers, Vehicle Engineering, suppliers, and management to ensure compliance with required specifications and critical decisions are made efficiently.

  • Occasional travel to Suppliers to resolve design and development issues and to Assembly plants to support build.

  • Assess warranty data and returned parts to monitor trends and action any quality actions in the field for Core ADAS components.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Design and Release of E/E components

  • 2+ years of experience in Automotive Electrical / Electronic components module design

  • 1+ year of experience in Failure Mode Avoidance analysis, Automotive E/E Requirements, EMC principals and Design Verifications.

Even better, you may have...

  • MSEE or advanced degree preferred.

  • Automotive Electronic Control Modules and Sensors Design and Development experience is a plus.

  • Be familiar with ED&T, ESOW, Attachment C/3, To4, 5D/8D processes.

  • Strong knowledge of E/E Systems and how E/E components interface with the other vehicle systems desired.

  • An expert at analyzing and resolving complex issues.

  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and champion issue resolution to get the job done.

  • Outstanding supplier relationship skills to coach and lead suppliers as required.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to quickly learn the job (with mentoring from others), and then be able to self-lead the D&R Application work AV Sensing component/ modules on Programs.

  • Experience with packaging electronic modules and components in vehicles desired.

  • Motivation to bring new technologies from concept to production in a short time period.

  • CAD packaging experience and/or experience in CATIA and Team Center is a plus.

  • Ability to travel, as necessary.
