Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Manager of Operations and Planning role, located in Daytona Beach, Florida. This role will be primarily responsible for managing and coordinating planning work efforts and community safety programs within the transportation planning industry. The incumbent will also work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the development and implementation of effective transportation plans, policies, and programs.

Responsibilities:

-Lead and oversee the operations and planning activities of the organization, including strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

-Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and initiatives to promote sustainable urban development, efficient transportation systems, and community resilience.

-Manage a team of professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality work and professional development.

-Collaborate with internal departments, government agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions to urban and transportation challenges.

-Conduct research, data analysis, and performance evaluations to assess the effectiveness of programs, policies, and projects and make data-driven recommendations.

-Prepare and present reports, presentations, and proposals to senior leadership, governing boards, and external stakeholders to communicate progress, outcomes, and recommendations.

-Monitor and manage budgets, grants, contracts, and resources to ensure efficient use and compliance with financial policies and regulations.

-Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to urban planning, transportation, public administration, and sustainability.

-Foster partnerships and collaborations with public and private sector entities, community groups, and advocacy organizations to advance shared goals and initiatives.

Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Transportation Planning, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

-Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in urban/transportation planning, public administration, or related fields.

-At least 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role, with demonstrated leadership, team-building, and decision-making skills.

-Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, transportation systems, land use planning, zoning regulations, and public policy frameworks.

-Experience with project management, budgeting, grant writing, and contract administration in the public or non-profit sector.

-Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.

-Proficiency in GIS, data analysis tools, and planning software is a plus.

-Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability in urban development and transportation planning.

-Professional certifications or memberships in relevant organizations (e.g., AICP, APA, ASCE) are desirable.

-Passion for creating livable, resilient, and inclusive communities through effective planning, policy, and engagement strategies.
