Job Description:

Write and review software requirements to meet requirement standards. Write and review software architecture and low-level design to meet design standards. Responsible for coding in the C programming language at different levels to include low level drivers, middle and application layers. Responsible for coding in Assembly language for specific processor when desirable. Support continuous improvement on software development best practices. Work cross functionally to ensure software meets customer requirements. Support FAA and customer DO-178C technical meetings and Stage of Involvement audits. Knowledgeable of best practices and how own area integrates with others; aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explain information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Convey performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues. Lead small teams of embedded software engineers through the full software development lifecycle. Provide schedule and cost metrics to project management for assigned tasks. 

 

Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and 8 years of progressively responsible post-Bachelor's degree experience in a related software engineering occupation required.   The position also requires:  8 years of full life cycle embedded software development experience utilizing the C programming language;  6 years experience of DO-178C SW development process; and 6 years experience of C/C++.  Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report/appear into/at the GE Aviation Systems LLC offices in Dayton, OH.
