About Dayton Job Corps

Job Corps' national mission is to educate and train highly-motivated young people, ages 16-24, for successful careers in the nation's fastest-growing industries. Here at Dayton Job Corps Center, we support their mission by teaching eligible young people, the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years. The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.

Purpose:

Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Ensures the safety of students and staff, buildings, and property by checking center doors, windows, lighting, appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment. Repairs and services facilities to prevent any major breakdown that might disrupt the smooth operation of equipment and machines on the center.

Your Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance of facilities and equipment present to prevent mechanical failure.

Change worn out parts of equipment and machines before the failure of the parts leads to major mechanical damage.

Identify any mechanical fault that may lead to major break down of equipment, facilities, and machines; suggests the best ways to mitigate further ongoing faults of equipment, facilities, and machines.

Maintain correct fluid, additives, and oil levels on equipment and machines by checking pneumatic lines, oil and water lines, and/or steam lines.

Checking on wear and tear on equipment parts, such as belts and filters.

Responsible for regular maintenance of air and water temperatures, heating and ventilating systems, and boilers.

Replacement of filters and changing of oil and grease.

Provides input to Maintenance Supervisor on preparing budgets and financial orders for ongoing facility maintenance, repairs, and replacements.

Provides input on possible technological advancements and improvements that will positively impact the preventive maintenance processes.

Ensure facility areas are clean and free from hazardous objects and substances.

May assist the maintenance technician in installation and repairs around campus.

Understands Lockout/Tagout procedures and use procedure prior to any cleaning or maintenance activities

Keep an accurate record of all assigned and completed work activities, materials needed, purchased, and used for preventive maintenance tasks.

Provide regular reporting to supervisor on task pending and completed.

Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.

Reports violations of ethical behavior.
