Montgomery County Jig Grind/Jig Bore Specialist (OMJ/MC) in Dayton, Ohio

JOB TITLE: Jig Grind/Jig Bore Specialist

 

HOURS: 2:30pm to 1:00am Mon. --Thurs.

 

2nd SHIFT PREMIUM: 15%

 

DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop

 

REPORTING TO: Machine Shop Manager

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Sets up and operates Jig Grinders and Jig Bore machines to perform high precision Jig Grinding and Jig Boring functions on small to medium sized steel, aluminum and exotic metal parts. Ability to work in very tight tolerances is a must. Candidate will have the ability to read Blueprints and determine best way to set up and process each part in order to maintain the required GD&T tolerancing requirements.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

· Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences.

· Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling attachments and work piece on machine

· Installs and Sets up cutting tools in machine spindles

· Should be able to operate basic tool room equipment such as Bridgeport and surface grinders.

· Ability to measure and document various parts using Micrometers, Calipers, Gage Pins, height gages or other basic measuring tools

· Ability to set up and operate CNC machining centers including Tool setting, Part setup including load and unloading various part holders, vises or part fixtures.

· Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow

· Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions

· Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to print specifications

· Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining

· Operates machine manually to perform non-automated functions

· Discusses errors with supervisor or cell leader to resolve problems

· Cleans machine, tooling, and parts

· Performs daily/weekly machine preventive maintenance

· Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, both dimensional and visual using Libra's quality control system for compliance with requirements for conformity to specified standards.

 

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· High School diploma or GED and 2+ years' experience

· Minimum 2 years of experience running precision Jig Grinding or Jig Bore machines

· Knowledge and experience running CNC controlled machining centers

· Knowledge of CNC machining programming

 

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Education regarding machining and/or technical certificates

· Knowledge and understanding of basic GD&T tolerancing

· Team attitude

· Good verbal communication skills

· Flexibility

· Learning oriented

· Problem solving/analytic skills

 

SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE THAT ARE A PLUS:

 

· Knowledge and experience running and programming EDM Wire or Sinker Machines

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· This positon will work in a shop environments.

· In the shop, you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, machines, and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in this shop area.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have good hearing and sight.

· You will need to be able to walk the shop floor and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
