This is a fulltime position and includes an academic appointment with the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University at either the associate or professor level. This is an amazing opportunity to lead a growing division in a thriving children’s hospital committed to optimal care to all children within our reach.

Department Specific Job Details:

Candidates must be an MD or DO, have completed an ACGME approved pediatric ophthalmology fellowship, be board certified in pediatric ophthalmology and be able to obtain an unrestricted medical license in Ohio. The successful candidate must be a clinically active surgeon capable of performing a broad spectrum of pediatric ophthalmology surgeries, provide high quality and safety of care, and have experience and commitment to graduate medical education. The new Chief will align and report directly to the Surgeon-in-Chief at Dayton Children’s Hospital.

The Chief will be responsible for the overall quality of care delivered by the division, operational efficiency, and growth, all while placing strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. Responsibilities also include recruiting providers and advancing the regional and national reputation of the ophthalmology program. Currently, the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology has one ophthalmologist, two optometrists, ophthalmology technicians, and an optical shop. There is tremendous opportunity to further build the services offered by the division including screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), oculoplastic surgery, glaucoma management, and cataract surgery.

Our institution is committed to the clinical, academic, and educational enhancement of the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology. We will support a seasoned leader or individual who is seeking their initial Chief role through mentorship, coaching and the fiscal resources necessary to recruit strong faculty and build a highly successful ophthalmology program. The position is fully supported by an operations team focused on assisting the chief in clinic operations and overall operation efficiency of the division.
