Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County Air Pollution Control Specialist I / II (OMJ/MC) in Dayton, Ohio

Position: Air Pollution Control Specialist I / II Department: Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA Air Pollution Area Abatement) Office: Environmental Health Hours: Full-time, M - F 8:00 am -- 4:30 pm Starting Salary: B24/Step 1 $24.57 - 29.86 Hour                            B25/Step 2 $26.60 - 32.32 Hour salary commensurate with experience **Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related degree • Proficiency in utilizing a PC with MS Office software experience • Current valid Ohio Driver's License and access to a motor vehicle • Required to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreaks, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional changes in responsibilities and working locations/hours Responsibilities include but not limited to: • Performing functions utilizing Ohio EPA and U.S. EPA software and databases to prepare and submit data and documents • Evaluating air quality monitoring data for submittal to Ohio EPA • Evaluating industrial source compliance through inspections, report review and stack emissions testing; these activities may require climbing ladders and working outside in inclement weather • Performing industrial air permit application reviews and prepares permit terms and conditions • Preparing and reviewing engineering calculations to determine air pollutant concentrations and emissions • Performing complaint investigations • Assisting with addressing non-compliance issues regarding local, state, and federal rules • Writing technical reports and assisting in the preparation of legal or public documents • Reviewing and preparing comments on rules, regulations, policies, and plans • Working on quality improvement projects and drafting Standard Operating Guidelines • Helping to manage AQS data submittal and retrievals • Representing agency on technical work groups, with other government agencies, the regulated community and with public citizens; helping to develop presentations to the public and regulated community • Operating air monitoring equipment including setting up filters, performing quality assurance checks and validating data; Troubleshooting problems and issues • Performing preventative maintenance and repair of monitoring equipment such as motors and pumps, data logging equipment • Performing miscellaneous housekeeping and grounds keeping using hand tools at monitoring sites • Conducting special projects in quality assurance, toxic air pollution and industrial air pollution; Performing other duties as assigned PHDMC provides a quality, affordable and competitive benefits package to employees, including the following: • Vacation, sick and personal leave, Paid holidays • Membership with Ohio Public Employees Retirement Systems (OPERS) • Eligible to contribute to a Deferred Compensation Program (Section 457 plan) How to apply: Complete the application found on our website: www.phdmc.org/about/employment-postings{rel="nofollow"} • Fax, email, or deliver the completed application and resume to Human Resources at: Public Health -- Dayton & Montgomery County 117 South Main Street, 2nd Floor humanresources@phdmc.org Dayton, Ohio 45422 (937) 496-3070 This is a Grant and Levy Funded position and the Closing date to apply is: June 24, 2023, or until position is filled
