CNC Machinist / Operator

Job Description

Responsibilities include up to and not limited to:

  • Operating CNC machines (horizontal and vertical machining centers) and peripherals at a proficient level

  • Achieving required part tolerances by making necessary adjustments to offsets and monitoring tool wear

  • Cleaning up the machines, equipment and working area

  • Maintaining the machines and equipment: refilling the oil, grease, coolant, and replacing filters

  • Uncrating, unwrapping, discarding trash, moving parts by forklift

  • Loading/unloading parts by crane and forklift to the machining fixtures

  • Assembling cutting tools and replacing the inserts, measuring the tooling and managing the tool life

  • Measuring the parts and ensuring the part dimensions achieve the quality standards as toleranced on part drawings

  • Assembling the machined parts

  • Working 8-hour schedules with overtime as needed - This is a first shift position (8AM to 5PM), overtime, or work holidays needed if necessary

  • Performing other production work as required by the supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • High proficiency with G-Code programming

  • Experience in accurately setting up parts on fixtures to machine high precision components

  • Experience working on horizontal machines

  • Ability to setup, program and perform recuts on parts to improve part accuracy

  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances related to high precision parts

  • Experience in loading and unloading parts, jigs and equipment

  • Ability to load and unload cutting tools and replace and insert tools

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including; positive attitude, being proactive, a strong sense of self-motivation, pride, accountability, and responsibility

  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing conditions

  • This is a first shift position (8AM to 5PM), overtime, or work holidays needed if necessary

  • Forklift and crane experience preferred

Work Environment:

Manufacturing environment (assembly, machining, quality control facility) at DMG MORI Manufacturing. Exposure to possible hazards may include noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery.

Physical Demands:

Frequent: standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling, repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.

Periodic: operating power equipment, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.
