Job Summary:

The Director of Product Management Excellence (PMEx) will report directly to the enterprise's Vice President of Innovation and has various crucial responsibilities necessary for the transformational growth and development of Trane Technologies Product Management function. Overall, the Director of Product Management Excellence will provide thought leadership, influence, and hands-on engagement to lead the company's comprehensive implementation of the PMEx strategies, talent & capability development, and product growth team (PGT) effectiveness.

This transformational leader will partner closely with executive leadership and product management leadership in the SBUs to help identify, lead, and execute PMEx strategies to drive sustainable, profitable growth. The role oversees the development and execution of the plan to ensure effective continuous improvement in the product management business operating system, cross-sbu talent management, and product manager capability development.

The role of Director of Product Management Excellence will require diligence in aligning programs already in place in each SBU while providing overall guidance, direct metrics, and leadership toward a consistent and focused approach to product management across the enterprise. The successful candidate will partner closely with each SBU to achieve our growth, innovation, and productivity goals

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and management of the PMEx deployment plan, the deployment and capability maturation of the business operating system (BOS), and the development of PMEx culture and leadership.

• Deploy product management excellence standard work across the enterprise as part of an overall transformation of the product management toolkit. This includes focusing on customer and market segmentation tools that enable development and launching of new offerings aligned with our strategic plan.

• Ensure the creation and delivery of a PMEx competency model and associated training activation across the enterprise.

• Provide talent management leadership to ensure the continued development of product management talent across the enterprise. Partner closely with the human resources organization to work toward a best-in-class PMEx capability through improved succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, and overall talent acquisition and development strategies that link with business goals.

• Develop and implement a best-in-class PMEx function annual plan that is aligned with the business unit’s product management leadership goals.

• Actively participate with peers on corporate initiatives, benchmarking activities, etc.

• Work with PGT (Product Growth Teams) leadership teams to develop and implement strategies and roadmaps that drive the portfolio's sustainable, profitable growth. Coach and mentor product managers to lead PGTs in developing and implementing strategic growth plans founded on a deep understanding of the customer and market segments, needs, and jobs to be done.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience is required, with 5+ years of Product Management functional experience.

• Product Management mastery-level experience inclusive of guiding teams through generating, developing, and launching offerings.

• Deep enterprise-wide, multi-site experience leading a global product management function in a diversified industrial environment.

• Notable international business experience with a history of driving and perpetuating growth across the enterprise.

• Strong academic background and evidence of strategic thinking ability supported by a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) and an MBA (preferred).

• Exceptional leadership skills and capability to build consensus and execute common goals in a matrixed environment.

• Position requires approximately 50% travel. The ability to travel internationally is required.
