Your Opportunity

Your role as a senior contributor on our Buildings team is to work independently through the planning and design of projects that are rooted in a deep understanding of our client’s needs, are fiscally responsible, and represent design excellence. Your experience ensures that you are proficient with the design process from inception through close-out, contract documentation, estimates and building codes. You will lead diverse project teams successfully through the design process, managing workflow and production activities, while ensuring client satisfaction with the process and product. You will assist in business development activities, nurturing existing client accounts and seeking to grow our client base through building new relationships and project pursuits.

As a senior member of our Atlantic Buildings team, you will be expected to help reinforce a collaborative and engaging environment for your teams while also ensuring design excellence, exceptional project delivery, and the highest levels of client satisfaction across Atlantic Canada. You will be expected to have a strong foundation of project management skills, but also an understanding that management of the design process requires hands-on problem solving, a growth mindset, a willingness to be inclusive of all perspectives, and the ability to see challenges as opportunities, not problems. You are expected to display the highest moral conduct and ethical standards.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Advocate and inspire creativity, critical thought and design excellence both internally and externally.

  • Involved with business development, marketing and procurement strategies for new project opportunities.

  • Participate and collaborate in the leadership and growth of the practice.

  • Collaborate with the team on Healthcare projects through all stages including programming, design phases and contract documentation.

  • Resolve complex technical and design issues.

  • Generate planning and detailed design layout.

  • Assist in coordination and communication with stakeholders, consultants, design and technical team members.

  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.

  • Support technical tools used by the Team, including AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Assist in identification, recruiting, and interviewing of design staff at all levels.

  • Foster collaboration between offices while promoting and providing design vision.

  • Acts as a mentor, teacher and coach to design staff with the goal of growing and guiding them through their careers.

  • Evaluate the quality of design and design activities and assure a high level of design quality throughout the firm.

  • Develop and implement firm’s brand, image, marketing collateral and business collateral.

  • Participate in performance reviews including setting of career goals.

  • Oversee and participate in production of design award submissions.

  • Engage staff in dialog on design, ensure design process is followed and influence usage of technological tools.

  • Identify and direct project photography, written descriptions, and other media in support of building the firm’s portfolio.

  • Be an ambassador and steward of the firm’s portfolio of work with ability to guide and educate others.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong knowledge of Revit preferred.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong graphic presentation skills.

  • NBC knowledge and understanding

  • Experience in Contract Administration is an asset.

  • Proven technical understanding of building science and construction contracts.

  • Able to work effectively in managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with clients and design team members

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Architecture; accredited (4 year) Bachelors or Masters degree.

  • Canadian Provincial registration as an Architect is mandatory.

  • Minimum 15 years of design and building detailing experience, with minimum 10 years as a Registered Architect.
