  • Job Summary

  • Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Residency Program Director (RPD) is responsible for active learning and participation in assigned duties of the Post graduate year 1 Pharmacy Residency Program (PGY1). Manage and improve the Medication use process. Provide evidence based, patient centered Medication Therapy Management with multidisciplinary teams. Exercise leadership and practice management skills. Demonstrate Project management skills. Provide medication and practice related education/training. Utilize medical informatics. Provides distributive and Clinical Pharmacy functions when providing service component as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist. Develops supervisory and leadership skills. Recruits new Residents and promotes program at regional, state and national venues. Precepts and evaluates Pharmacy Interns, Students or Technician Students in their respective roles. Provides desire and aptitude for teaching clinical problem solving via 4 roles -instructing, modeling, coaching, facilitating. Remains actively engaged in clinical practice and demonstrates commitment to life long learning. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

  • Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort

  • Limited office and storage space; small work area. Must be attentive to detail. Stress from deadlines and strict regulations. Some moving of supplies/equipment. May be involved in the preparation and delivery of chemotherapy agents. The task of this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Must be able to moving or positioning 10 lbs. independently.

  • Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited college of Pharmacy with Pharm. D. Degree.

  • Experience: The Resident will be a KY Licensed Pharmacist (or eligible for KY Licensure within 60 days from Residency year). Must be a graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with sufficient educational training to practice in a hospital Pharmacy.

  • EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Hospital Pharmacy experience with IV admixture, code response, kinetic dosing and computer experience highly recommended. Excel and Word document experience required. RLS/Resitrack experience beneficial.

  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

  • Kentucky Board of Pharmacy License. BLS Certification within 30 days of employment. ACLS Certification within 90 days of employment.
