Full-Time Adult Hospitalist - Danbury, Connecticut (70 miles from New York City)

Danbury Hospital, a part of Nuvance Health is seeking a full-time* day Adult Hospitalist at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut to join our established and busy program. We are located about 70 miles northeast of New York City in suburban Fairfield County and near the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York. Position is a Day schedule from 8 AM – 8 PM with two weekends per month and is an employed position with Nuvance Health Medical Practice CT. There is a flexible schedule pattern of either 7 on/7 off or Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM with two weekends per month. The ideal candidate will be board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. This is a great opportunity to join a team with a small community hospital feel in a collegial work environment while being able to work closely with different specialties.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area resident's convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Our employed Medical Practices includes 900+ physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Danbury, Connecticut, located on the border of New York State, is about 70 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible via train or car.

Job Summary:

Provide medical care to inpatients, assist them to recover from acute illnesses and minimize the effects of chronic illnesses.

Job Requirements:**

  • MD or DO with CT State License, Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance Registration

  • Preferred: Prior experience as a staff physician or Hospitalist but new Residents are encouraged to apply

  • Have successfully completed an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Residency

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible

  • Willingness to work primarily at Danbury Hospital with some shifts at New Milford Hospital. Flexible and variable 12 hour shifts 8 AM – 8 PM including about 2 weekends per month for a total of about 15 shifts per month. There is a flexible schedule pattern of either 7 on/7 off or Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM with two weekends per month.

Salary range:

$230,000 - $270,000 annually commensurate or relative to experience.
