Groundskeeper - 1st Shift

Position Overview

Shaw Industries Grounds Department provides landscaping and maintenance services to various plants located in Whitfield and Murray Counties. This position will be based out of Plant 95 in Dalton, GA, report to the Grounds Superintendent, and maintain various Plants in Whitfield and Murray Counties.

Receive a list of locations to be maintained each day.

Mowing Make sure the oil level in the mower is proper each day.

Check wheel setting periodically throughout the day to ensure that the mower is moving level.

Sharpen the blade regularly so that grass is cut clean.

Mow in the proper direction so that grass is not blown on sidewalks or cars.

Be alert so that damage is not done to trees and shrubs. Be alert for obstacles in the mowing area.

Weed-Eating Service machine daily.

Know the proper length to run string so as not to damage the machine.

Know proper direction to work so as not to throw on sidewalks or cars. Be alert so as not to damage the tree or shrubs.

Be able to operate larger mowers.

Be able to perform minor maintenance on equipment.

Should be familiar with all plant locations and areas to maintain at each so that work can continue in absence of the lead person.

Should have basic knowledge of landscape planting (proper depth and spacing).

Must be available during inclement weather for salt brine application on driveways, salting sidewalks, and assisting with snow removal.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Work with other groundskeepers and complete tasks both as a team and individually as requested.

Physical Requirements Be able to stand and walk all day every day.

Be able to bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry and reach frequently.

Be able to withstand exposure to changes in both temperature and humidity.

Safety Requirements Be aware of hazards of the equipment they operate and use proper precautions to prevent injury.

Use proper precautions when filling equipment with gasoline.

Wear required safety equipment (safety glasses, earplugs, long pants, steel-toed shoes, high visibility vest).

Adhere to all Shaw Industries Corporate Safety Guidelines.

Must pass a DOT Physical.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6AM - 3PM.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
