Reference #: 85347-360305 GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: A Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of welded structures and products. Their primary responsibilities revolve around inspecting welds to ensure they meet specified standards and requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Weld Inspection: Conduct visual inspections of welded joints to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Quality Assurance: Verify that welding procedures and practices meet industry standards and client requirements. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, including reports, certifications, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Testing: Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) dye penetrant testing Level 2 (PT) to detect defects in welds. Oversee: Welder Eye Exams/Results, Spot Weld Testing, Log of Welder Stamps, Welder Qualifications Test Records, Arrange for outside non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), dye penetrant testing Level 2 (PT), and radiographic testing (RT) to detect defects in welds, AWS Corporate Membership. Interpretation: Interpret welding symbols, drawings, and specifications to ensure proper welding techniques and procedures are followed. Training: Provide guidance and training & testing to welding personnel to improve weld quality and compliance with standards. Problem-solving: Investigate welding defects, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards during welding operations. Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to address welding-related issues and ensure project success. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in welding technology, techniques, and standards to enhance inspection practices and processes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Provides direction to designated work teams with responsibility for maintaining quality of work. No assigned direct reports.

Experience: 2 years of experience in welding inspection or related fields, with a strong understanding of welding processes and techniques. Knowledge: Proficiency in welding codes and standards such as AWS D1.1, D17.1, D1.2, ASME Section IX, API 1104, and others relevant to the industry Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with stakeholders and document inspection findings. Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to identify defects and discrepancies in welds. Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot welding issues and recommend solutions. Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computer software for documentation, report generation, and data analysis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Shop Floor Environment. Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e., machine motors). Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test. Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
